Let's #MentionPrevention: Alcohol

Let’s #MentionPrevention is a campaign to assist retailers and guardians to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors. It began as a partnership between Milford Prevention Council, Southington’s Town-wide Effort to Promote Success (STEPS), Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families, TPAUD – Trumbull’s Prevention Partnership, and Wolcott Citizens Against Substance Abuse (CASA) Coalition, and has grown to include many other communities across the state.

With this campaign, TPAUD is partnering with local restaurants and liquor establishments to encourage staff to #MentionPrevention when offering to-go alcohol purchases in store, curbside, or delivery.

Retailers are given an onsite retailer poster designed to remind staff about the importance of ID checks and keeping alcohol away from minors, particularly in this challenging time. The poster includes important reminders for staff to ensure that customers are of age before allowing them to leave with orders containing alcoholic drinks.

In addition, establishments are provided with customer insert cards to include with sales of to-go alcohol purchases. The card contains important information for purchasers about the dangers of underage drinking and alcohol access for minors.
